The Courage to Meet Judgement

A gentle guided Somatic & Hypnotherapy Experience for the parts of us that fear criticism, shame, or rejection

For many of us, the fear of judgement does not only live in the mind.

It can live in the body.

In the tightening of the chest.
The bracing in the belly.
The heat in the face.
The held breath.
The urge to explain, please, perfect, hide, freeze, soften ourselves, or say nothing at all.

Not because we are weak.
Not because we are too sensitive.
But because some part of us may have learned that criticism, shame, misunderstanding, rejection, or disapproval could cost us safety, love, belonging, or connection.

These responses are deeply human.

This joint Hypno-Somatic experience offers a grounded, compassionate space to gently meet the parts of us that fear judgement, rather than judging ourselves for having them.

Together, we will explore what happens when we turn towards these protective parts with curiosity, warmth, and inner steadiness.

This event brings together Giorgia Bettili, a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Michaela Burrell, a Somatic Processing Practitioner.

It can take courage to meet judgement because judgement often touches places inside us that already feel tender.

It can awaken old fears of being rejected, criticised, misunderstood, excluded, shamed, or no longer loved as we are.

And when those fears are touched, the body may try to protect us by shrinking, pleasing, perfecting, explaining, freezing, or hiding.

This journey is not about making ourselves available for more judgement. It is about meeting the part of us that has carried the fear of it, with compassion, rather than criticism.

Event FAQs

  • This space may particularly resonate if you:

    • fear being judged, criticised, misunderstood, or rejected

    • tend to overthink what others may think of you

    • find yourself people-pleasing, over-explaining, or trying to get things “right”

    • feel shame, embarrassment, or self-consciousness around being perceived

    • hide parts of yourself because they feel too tender to reveal

    • struggle with perfectionism or fear of making mistakes

    • judge yourself quickly or harshly

    • sense that some part of you learned it was safer to stay small, quiet, useful, pleasing, or hidden

    • are curious about somatic work, hypnotherapy, or compassionate inner exploration

You do not need any previous experience of somatic work or hypnotherapy to join.

You are welcome exactly as you are.

  • During this experience, you may be invited to gently notice:

    • how your body responds to the possibility of judgement

    • where you may hold bracing, shrinking, tension, heat, collapse, vigilance, or protection

    • the parts of you that fear criticism, shame, rejection, or misunderstanding

    • the protective strategies that may have helped you feel safer, such as pleasing, perfecting, explaining, hiding, freezing, or staying quiet

    • what these parts may be afraid would happen if they did not protect you

    • what they may need in order to feel met, supported, or understood

    • what it feels like to stay with yourself, even when judgement feels near

This is not about becoming fearless.

It is about beginning to meet the fear with more compassion, so your body can experience a little more choice, steadiness, and inner support.

  • A Hypno-Somatic Experience gently brings together the body-based awareness of somatic journeying with the relaxed, receptive state of hypnotherapy.

Somatic work invites you to listen to the body, notice sensations, emotions, impulses, protective responses, and inner parts with curiosity and compassion.

Hypnotherapy can support the mind and body to soften into a more relaxed state, where new inner experiences, perspectives, and supportive suggestions may be received more deeply.

Together, these approaches can create a gentle space for the mind and body to work in harmony.

    You remain in choice throughout.

You do not have to force anything, relive anything, share anything, or go anywhere that feels too much for today.

  • Please register via the booking form to:

    • secure your place

    • answer a few medical questions, so your experience can be as nourishing and safe as possible

    • receive the live Zoom access details

    • receive the replay after the event

A recording will be emailed to all registered participants, so you can return to the experience in your own time and revisit it as often as feels supportive.

  • No previous experience is needed.

Just a willingness to show up gently and meet what is here.

For a more supportive experience, we suggest finding a quiet space where you will not be disturbed.

    You may like to have:

    • headphones

    • a glass of water

    • a journal and pen

    • a blanket or cushion

    • comfortable clothes

    • enough space to move gently, if your body wants to

We warmly invite you to keep your camera on if that feels supportive, so we can stay connected and attuned as a group.

And, as always, you are welcome to honour your own nervous system.

You can keep your eyes open.
    You can pause.
    You can rest.
    You can adjust your position.
    You can step away.
    You can simply listen.

    Your pace matters.

  • People often leave these spaces with subtle but meaningful shifts.

    Not because anything was forced.
But because something was met differently.

    You may notice:

    • a deeper understanding of the parts of you that fear judgement

    • more compassion for your protective responses

    • a little more space around shame, self-criticism, or fear of rejection

    • greater awareness of how judgement lives in your body

    • a felt sense of staying with yourself rather than abandoning yourself

    • more inner steadiness when being perceived feels tender

    • a gentle beginning of relating to yourself with less pressure and more kindness

This is not about fixing yourself.

It is about creating the conditions where the parts of you that learned to hide can begin to feel a little more understood, supported, and safe.

All registered participants will receive access to the recording, so you can come back to the experience as often as feels supportive.

It'd be wonderful if you could join us live so we can attune to you and your energy as much as possible. However, if your timezone doesn't allow live participation, feel free to register for the event and join via the replay.

Staying connected

Meeting ourselves with compassion and kindness is not something most of us learn at school. It's a life skill, and a gentle, ongoing practice.

I frequently share gentle somatic reflections, brief moments from past somatic journeys and somatic support resources on my social media pages. I like to see them as small doorways into a remembering; learning to sit with ourselves without judgement.

If you’d like to receive gentle prompts to support connection with your inner world, you’re warmly invited to stay connected through Instagram or Facebook.

Gentle Note

Somatic Journeying is a gentle, body-based, trauma-informed process that supports reconnection, regulation and embodied change. While many clients experience greater safety, regulation, clarity, and aliveness, outcomes vary and no guarantees can be made.

Hypnotherapy is a natural, relaxed‑state process that may create sensations such as warmth, tingling, heaviness, or light numbness. Everyone experiences hypnosis differently, and individual results vary. Hypnosis may not be suitable for individuals experiencing psychosis, certain personality disorders, or epileptic seizures.

Somatic Journeying, Hypnotherapy and Dream Work are holistic, educational, and complementary wellbeing approaches. They are not substitutes for medical care, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, diagnosis, or crisis support.
